honeymoon's over
honeymoon’s over.
cake’s all gone.
stack the dance floor
back in Pawpaw’s barn.
moon’s rising.
bonfire’s hot.
prairie women’re
a scandalous lot.
start the pickup.
wipe those feet.
never knew the moon
gave off such heat.
fold the linens.
wipe the floors.
aprons on hips look
like something to eat.
cake’s all gone
but the sugar’s not.
never knew the moon
to be so hot.
